Background
The first book for Portland, OR, author KC Conrow blends memoir and fiction. She intertwines her own metaphysical experiences during a time of personal chaos with that of a reluctant gondolier who came to her in a Jungian daydream.
Because the book drifts back and forth between memoir and fantasy, a visual device was needed to keep the reader on track. A gondolier icon introduces the fantasy parts of the book, while a wavy line separates memoir from fantasy.
The cover design is meant to evoke the contrasting elements of serenity and passion.
