Where do you go for creative inspiration? For me, one place is the sea. It offers extraordinary details if you’re patient and curious enough to let them wash over you. The sea reminds me that the most beautiful forms are the most simple and direct. Too often, we complicate things by seeking out lofty solutions. Most of the time, the answer is sitting right there just waiting to be noticed.

“The sea does not reward those who are too anxious,
too greedy, or too impatient. One should lie empty, open, choiceless as a beach—
waiting for a gift from the sea.”
—Anne Morrow Lindbergh
And you? Where do you go? The museum? The shower? A bike ride?
Awesome photos Jane!
Thank you. I realized I had only been to the ocean twice this last year. And each visit is a reminder that I need to consider it work and go more often : )
Makes me want to go now! Love the photos.
Love this post. I go to galleries and see art, I go to music and time away from the computer and my office. Music moves me in amazing ways and helps stir creativity for me. Last May I went to NYC for a creative infusion: that trip is still paying off in inspiration for current work.
Nice photos!
Thanks for reading. I love the sound of a creative infusion — like a giant multicolored smoothie.
NO, don’t consider it work! Consider it inspiration, rejuvenation, balm for the soul and senses, a necessary part of a healthy diet….
I’m going to the beach for a week at the end of March (Sanibel).
Yay!
These are gorgeous. Makes me realize I need to stop and really look more often.
Well, I define work pretty loosely and not in a negative way. More of a verb and not a noun. Working in the garden, working on a painting. As I look out at a downpour, Sanibel sounds very good right about now!
